About Halle
Halle Jones Capers, P.E., is Owner and President of Halle’s Engineering & Design, LLC, which provides engineering services for public sector clients, established in November 2020. She is a licensed professional engineer in the States of Ohio and Michigan. The daughter of educators, she was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated magna cum laude in 1990 from the University of Akron where she was a scholar in the Honor’s Program and first in her Civil Engineering class. In addition to her parents, Halle credits UA College of Engineering Dean Emeritus, the late Dr. Louis A Hill, for starting her on a path of leadership and success. While at UA, Halle was one of the founders and the 1st President of the UA Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
Halle served in various design and leadership positions for over 20 years at several Northeast Ohio engineering design firms, including Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager Department Manager and Vice President. In addition, Halle served six years as Senior Vice President of Operations and Transportation Manager for G. Stephens, Inc. and two years as Deputy Director, Division of Highway Operations for the Ohio Department of Transportation in Columbus, Ohio.
Halle serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Summit and Medina Counties and previously served as Vice Chair and Secretary of the Board of the First Tee of Greater Akron. With a lifelong commitment to encouraging youth to pursue careers in engineering, Halle was a charter member and past Chair of the IDEAs Program Advisory Council at the University of Akron (Increasing Diversity in Engineering Academics), and as a member of the Construction Engineering Technology Program Advisory Council at Cuyahoga Community College. Halle is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Society of Highway Engineers (Lake Erie Section – National Conference Committee 2016-2018). Halle and her family reside in Fairlawn and are members of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Akron.
